THE OCEAN HOUSE
LANGEBAAN

The Ocean House is a unique feature of sail training in the Cape, being the only in-house residential base for RYA students during theory modules.

Theory modules require lots of space (for laying out of charts), good lighting and a patient instructor, and we usually have 2 out of those 3. However, the crux of grasping new concepts is through regular exposure and repetition, and this is where the Ocean House comes into its own in providing students with a suitable after hours study area with assistance if required.

Hot showers, comfy beds and delicious home cooked meals (by the In-House Mum) add to this welcome break from the yachts, where personal space, privacy and "time-out" are limited.

The House accommodates up to 20 students with all rooms en suite and serviced, and students generally share with 1 or 2 other students, with a few bedrooms available for couples.

VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT
CAPE TOWN (CBD)

The Academy's head office lies on the edge of the exclusive V & A Marina within the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Students register at this base and are transported from here to their relevant training areas in the company transport. All beginner courses (Competent Crew) start here in the Waterfront where a number of our yachts and power boats are moored whereas the theory modules take place in Langebaan on the Cape West Coast in the Ocean House.

The Waterfront has it all! Shops, movie houses, chemists, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets all lie within 500m of the Academy and the students stock up here prior to their practical modules.

After hours you can relax in one of the many waterside pubs and restaurants or wander into the mall until 21h00 when the shops generally close for the night.

LANGEBAAN LAGOON
PRACTICAL

Langebaan Lagoon is one of Southern Africa's largest marine sanctuaries and protected wetlands situated on the Cape West Coast (about 60nm from Cape Town), and students either sail from Cape Town or are driven to Langebaan for the start of certain RYA practical modules.

A number of our yachts are moored in the Mykonos Marina or on one of our chain moorings off the picturesque Langebaan Yacht Club.

Langebaan Lagoon is spectacularly beautiful in addition to having training features that are ideally suited to the RYA curriculum, and due to the latter, the RYA have sanctioned this as the official area for RYA examinations in South Africa.
