Training Overview

The 3 STCW 95; Basic safety training courses include; Fire Fighting First Aid and Sea Survival.

RYA Competent Crew: Starting point for beginners covering sea terms, rigging, sail handling, rope-work etc

NEW: RYA Day/Coastal Theory: All deck crew are required to perform watch keeping duties, this will include position plotting, radar watch, chart work and navigation such as dead reckoning, estimated position, courses to steer, Collision Regulations, Tidal navigation and heights, etc. This course now covers the advanced Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster qualifications needed to advance through the industry.

Day Skipper Practical: Preparation for sea & deck work; practical navigation & pilotage; skippering; maintenance, engines & victualling; yacht handling under power/sail; passage making, MOB & meteorology; rules of road & emergency situations.

RYA VHF
: This course provides the knowledge and certificate required to practically interpret and operate the radio aboard.

Recommended Optional Extras

RYA Power Boat Level II (2 days/ important to have)
Super Yacht guests are regularly ferried between the yachts and the shore, and a licensed driver of a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) is required for this service. The course covers all aspects of RIB driving, launching, fuelling etc and on passing, the students hold an RYA Power Boat Level II Certificate of Competence. This qualification greatly enhances the opportunity for employment as qualified drivers are always needed by the Super Yachts.

RYA Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski) 1 day/important to have
This course provides the license for driving Jet Skis with a passenger. 

Water Sports (1 day)

Organising water sports entertainment is the priority of the deck crew when the clients are on board. The water sports day provides training in the operating of the equipment and more importantly the safety issues associated with client usage of the equipment – includes use of wake boards, tubes and water skiing.
  
Super Yacht Training/ Maintenance (2 days)

This is a specialised course covering deck hand tasks and maintenance skills specific to Super Yachts such as the application of poly urethane topcoats, filling and faring, varnishing and deck maintenance. Guest related duties such as anchoring, line handling and tender work.

RYA Radar (1 day)
This course provides the knowledge and certificate required to practically interpret and operate the radar aboard (not essential)
