A introductory sailing course for novices (1 or 2 days)

This is a beginners’ course that focuses on practical offshore sailing whilst having fun. Candidates learn how to become active crew members and leave with a Course Completion Certificate.

Cruises are run from our bases at the following idyllic locations:

• Victoria & Alfred Waterfront Marina – Cape Town
• Mykonos Marina – Langebaan, Cape West Coast.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

• Those wanting to “try out” yachting without having to commit to a full training course
• Adventure seekers looking for a new experience
• Those wanting to view the beautiful locations of Cape Town or Langebaan from a new angle. This is like a charter but passengers learn to sail at the same time.
• Families “testing the water” for future charter holidays, having fun, or maybe considering buying a yacht.
• Those wanting to try a new sport and develop new skills
• Establishing whether yachting is a career or gap year opportunity you may wish to pursue
• Corporates, clubs, schools, parties etc. Looking for team building or developing leadership.

Whilst structured around introducing sailing to newcomers, it is aimed at having fun and enjoying the sights from the sea. It is a wonderful medium for bonding, enjoying friendships or simply getting some fresh sea air.

By the end of the course participants will experience being a deckhand, assist in steering the yacht, maneuver the yacht to pick up a “Man-Over-Board”, handle and trim the sails and learn to tie a number of knots. Candidates wishing to pursue further training towards a Yachthand or Day Skipper will be credited with two days of training.

EXCLUDES

• Food and beverages on board yacht. Clients to please bring their own.

OPTIONAL

• Accommodation at our Langebaan residential training centre, Ocean House, with 8 en-suite double bedrooms, satellite TV, Internet and home cooked meals.

• R1 750 per person for 2 days course or or R950 for 1 day
